Newt's Ideas

It is becoming apparent that we as a nation are going the way of all nations. A government that was created to secure the inalienable rights, the Declaration of Independence says was given us by our creator, is working very hard to deny them. We are deeply in debt and it doesn't look like we will ever get out. The government, not authorized to print currency, hands that task to a non-governmental consortium of member banks called the Federal Reserve. They print it by the truck load and the only thing it is backed by is the good faith and trust of the people. If we are going to survive we had better do something soon. We need a plan.

Newt Gingrich's The Platform of the American People: A Red White, and Blue Revolution, seems like a good start. From the data he and his organization have collected, it seems the American People support his ideas. Newt makes the statement;

“America will have entered a new period in which the vast majority of Americans would actually be represented in government and politics and in which we would actually get things done. “

Wow, what a concept! Do you suppose we could find a way to really get things done?

The Constitutional Imperative

The Constitutional Imperative

The Constitution is a restrictive document. It is specific about what those entrusted with the care of the government will do and only what they will do. It is inclusive only. In addition it does not allow those same people to go where they will. Much like a dog on a leash, they go where their master wants them to go and nowhere else. There is no exclusivity. They will do only what they are allowed to do. It is law.

"All laws which are repugnant to the Constitution, are null and void." Chief Justice Marshall, Marbury v. Madison, 5, U.S. (Cranch) 137, 174,176

It is the Law from which all laws come from. At least that is what our forefathers envisioned.

"Let no more be said of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution."

-Thomas Jefferson

"No one is bound to obey an unconstitutional law and no courts are bound to enforce it."

-- 16 Am. Jur. Sec. 177 late 2d, Sec 256

"The Constitution is not neutral. It was designed to take the government off the backs of the people."

-- Justice William O. Douglas

So what's up?

Where does the Constitution stand today? Is the government off the backs of the people? Will anyone we elect work to get the government off the backs of the people.
